Flinders University

About

More than 200 Flinders students visit the Barossa Valley for rural work integrated learning placements each year.

Third year Doctor of Medicine (MD) students undertake the 12-month Doctor of Medicine Rural Stream (MDRS) based in medical practices in Angaston, Kapunda, Nuriootpa and Tanunda. This program started in 2008 and is the first time that medical students from the University of Adelaide and Flinders University have studied together in the same program.

Nursing, allied health and fourth-year medical students undertake shorter clinical placements at hospital and health services throughout the region. Flinders University’s Nuriootpa campus provides Flinders and University of Adelaide students with video-conference and lecture facilities, a clinical training suite and student common facilities for relaxation and study.
