Barossa Council is asking for public input on the name of a new $17.1 million creative industries centre currently under development in Tanunda. The Centre will expand and transform the existing Barossa Regional Gallery and Tanunda Soldiers Memorial Hall into a national-level hub for creativity, culture and community connection.
When complete, the Centre will include exhibition spaces, performance areas, studios, digital production facilities, and an outdoor events precinct. Funded by local, state and federal government contributions, the facility is designed to support creative industries, tourism, education and community participation across the Barossa region.
The Community's Role
Council is seeking ideas for what the Centre should be called. Names can be fully developed or just starting points—words, concepts, or themes that reflect our region’s character and identity.
All suggestions should ideally meet three key criteria:
- Easy to say, remember and pronounce
- Strong enough to stand as a brand for national and international audiences
- Connected to the Barossa’s creativity, culture, and sense of place
How It Will Be Decided
Suggestions will be reviewed as part of a formal naming process. A final decision will be made by Council’s Elected Members following consideration of feedback from the community and stakeholders.
Why It Matters
This name will represent the Barossa’s creative and cultural identity for generations to come. It’s a rare chance to shape how the Centre is known to visitors, artists, locals and audiences across Australia and beyond.
